How do you order an Ohio business filing online?

Ordering a filing from us takes three steps, and you are not charged at the first one. We review your order, confirm the state fee, and email you a secure card payment link before we file. Here is what happens at each step.

  1. You send the order. Pick the service, tell us about the business, and add any notes, such as name alternatives or where documents should go.
  2. We review it. We check the details against the state record, check name availability where the filing depends on it, and confirm the exact state fee for your filing.
  3. You pay, and we file. We email a secure card payment link for our fee and the state fee. Once it is paid, we file, and the filed documents and state receipt appear in your portal.

This order form is for one-time filings and documents. Statutory agent service is different: it is a $49-a-year plan you start in the portal by creating an account, adding the business, e-signing the consent, and paying by card. You can do both, for example ordering a formation here and starting agent service in the portal.

What does each Ohio filing cost? Our fee and the state fee

Every add-on is a flat fee. The Ohio Secretary of State's fee is listed beside it and charged as its own line, so you can see exactly what goes to the state and what comes to us. State fees are set by ORC 111.16 and were last checked against it in September 2026.

ServiceOur feeOhio state fee
Business Formation$100$99
Foreign Business Registration$100$99
Trade Name (DBA) Registration$50$39

S-Corp Election$100None (no IRS fee)
Certificate of Good Standing$25$5
Corporate Book$60None
Corporate Seal$40None
Apostille$300Included in our price

A few notes on the table. The formation fee shown is the standard $99 for LLC articles and for corporations with up to 990 authorized shares; corporations authorizing more shares pay more (ORC 111.16(A)). Amendments that add authorized shares also cost more than the base $50. Foreign registrations may involve a fee from your home state for its certificate of good standing. The apostille price already includes the state certification and apostille fees. The corporate book and corporate seal include shipping within Ohio.

Our statutory agent service is not on this list because it is not ordered here. It is $49 per business per year, billed by card in the portal.

Why do you confirm the state fee before I pay?

Because some filings do not have one fixed state fee, and we would rather tell you the right number than charge you the wrong one. The cases that change the amount are specific:

  • A corporation authorizing more than 990 shares pays a higher articles fee.
  • An amendment that increases authorized shares pays an added amount.
  • Expedited processing is available for an added state fee, if you ask for it.
  • An EIN costs $200 instead of the online fee when the IRS requires a paper Form SS-4.
  • International shipping for an apostille is quoted at carrier cost.

The emailed payment link shows our fee and the state fee as separate amounts. If anything about the order changes the total, you see the new total before you pay, not after. If you want expedited state processing, say so in the notes when you order, and the added state fee is included in the confirmed total.

What information do you need to order an Ohio LLC filing service?

The order form asks for the basics on every order: the service, the entity's legal name exactly as filed (or the proposed name, with LLC, Inc., or similar, for a new entity), the entity type, and the Ohio entity number if it has one. It also asks for your name, email, and phone so we can reply.

Extra details by service

  • Formation: two or three name choices in order of preference, the principal office address, and the organizer or incorporator's name and mailing address. Corporations also give the number of authorized shares and the purpose clause.
  • Foreign registration: the home state, formation date, principal office, and the managers, members, or officers as your home state lists them, plus that state's certificate of good standing.
  • Trade name: the name you want, the business's legal name and entity number, a short description of the business, and the date you started using the name.
  • Amendment or dissolution: the exact change or effective date, and confirmation that the owners or directors approved it as your governing documents require.
  • EIN and S-corp election: owner and ownership details. Taxpayer ID numbers are collected securely after you order.
  • Corporate book, seal, or apostille: the shipping address, and for an apostille the destination country.

Please do not type a Social Security number or other taxpayer ID into the order form or its notes. If your order needs one, we collect it securely after we reply.

If you do not have every detail when you order, send what you have and say what is missing in the notes. We will ask for the rest during review, before anything is charged or filed.

How do you order an Ohio certificate of good standing?

Banks ask for a certificate of good standing when you open an account or close a loan. Other states ask for one when you register there. It is the Secretary of State's statement that your entity exists and is active on the state record.

Choose Certificate of Good Standing on the order form and give us the entity's legal name and Ohio entity number. If the bank, lender, or agency that asked for it wants a particular format, say so in the notes. Our fee is $25, plus the $5 state fee for the sealed certificate (ORC 111.16(K)(1)).

Before we order it, we check the entity name and number. If the state record shows the entity is not in good standing, the state will not issue the certificate. We tell you what the record shows so you can sort it out with your accountant or attorney, and reinstatement filings can be ordered separately.

If the certificate is going to another country, a plain certificate is usually not enough. Our Apostille service, $300 with state fees included, obtains a certified copy and the Secretary of State's apostille, then ships the finished document to the address you name.

Ordering an Ohio LLC formation: what happens after you pay

Formation has the most steps, so here is the full path. We check the name on Ohio Business Central, prepare the Articles of Organization (Form 610) or Articles of Incorporation (Form 532A for a for-profit corporation, Form 532B for a nonprofit), and file them online with the Ohio Secretary of State naming us as statutory agent. Our fee is $100, plus the $99 state fee (ORC 111.16(F) for LLCs).

Once filed, the articles, the state receipt, and a plain-language next-steps checklist appear in your portal. The checklist covers the EIN, the Ohio Business Gateway, and the operating agreement or bylaws. We do not draft those internal agreements; your attorney can.

Not ready to file yet? A Name Reservation ($50 plus the $39 state fee) holds an available name for 180 days. When you are ready, order the formation and we file under the reserved name. And if you would rather file the articles yourself, our filing guides give the agent entries to use, and you can still start agent service in the portal.

Which Ohio filings do businesses usually order together?

Most orders are one filing, but some needs come in sets. Here are combinations that often go together, with each piece priced on its own:

Starting a new Ohio LLC

Business Formation ($100 plus $99) names us as statutory agent, and agent service is $49 a year through the portal. Add a Tax ID (EIN) at $50 if you would rather not apply with the IRS yourself, and a Corporate Book ($60) if you want the records in one binder.

Bringing an out-of-state company into Ohio

Foreign Business Registration ($100 plus $99) needs a certificate of good standing from your home state, which that state issues and prices. We tell you how to get it.

Selling under a brand name

A Trade Name (DBA) Registration ($50 plus $39) lets an existing LLC or corporation do business under a name other than its exact legal name.

Closing the business

Dissolution and Cancellation ($75 plus $50) ends the entity on the state record. Once the state records it, your agent service can be cancelled.

How long does each order take?

Most turnaround is set by the Secretary of State, the IRS, or a carrier, not by us. These are the times we can state, and we do not promise faster ones:

ServiceTypical turnaround
Business FormationSeveral business days of state processing; expedited options available for an added state fee
Certificate of Good StandingUploaded to your portal as soon as the state issues it
Tax ID (EIN), onlineUsually the same business day
Tax ID (EIN), paperSeveral weeks, set by the IRS
S-Corp ElectionIRS acceptance letter takes roughly 60 days
Corporate BookShips in about five business days
Corporate SealShips in about five business days after you approve the proof
ApostilleOne to two weeks, set by the Secretary of State

One deadline to know about: an S-corp election has to be filed within 2 months and 15 days of the start of the tax year it covers. Whether to make the election at all is a question for your accountant. For state filings, the processing clock starts when we file, and we file after payment, so paying the emailed link promptly is the fastest thing you can do.

Where do filed documents go, and who to call with questions?

Every filing we complete lands in your portal: the filed document, the state receipt where there is one, and any confirmation letter, such as the IRS letter for an EIN or S-corp election. Physical items, like a corporate book, seal, or apostilled document, ship to the address you give us, and a scan of an apostilled document is uploaded too.

If you ordered a formation or foreign registration, we are named as your statutory agent on the filing. Agent service itself is $49 a year, billed through your portal, and from then on service of process and state mail are scanned and published the same business day they arrive.

We are a filing service and statutory agent, not a law firm or accounting firm. We prepare and file what you direct, and we do not advise on which entity type, tax election, or registration is right for you. If you are not sure which filing you need, call (877) 908-6122 or email info@ohioregisteredstatutoryagent.com, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.

Questions about ordering an Ohio filing

How do I pay for an add-on filing?

You pay by card through a secure payment link we email after reviewing your order. The link shows our fee and the Ohio state fee as separate amounts. Nothing is charged when you submit the order form, and we file only after the payment goes through. Statutory agent service is the one exception: it is paid by card when you sign up in the portal.

How do I get a certificate of good standing in Ohio?

Order it from the Ohio Secretary of State, which charges $5 for the sealed certificate (ORC 111.16(K)(1)). Through us, choose Certificate of Good Standing on the order form and give the entity's name and number. Our fee is $25. We check the details, order the certificate, and upload it to your portal as soon as the state issues it.

Am I charged when I submit the order form?

No, submitting the order form does not charge anything. We first review the order, check the details and name availability where it matters, and confirm the state fee. Then we email a secure card payment link. You decide whether to pay at that point, and we file only after payment.

Why is the Ohio state fee listed separately from your fee?

So you can see exactly what goes to the state and what comes to us. The state fee is set by Ohio law (ORC 111.16) and passed through as its own line on the payment link. Our fee is a flat amount for preparing and filing the document. The apostille is the one exception, sold as a single flat price with the state fees included.

What if the state fee for my filing is different from the listed one?

We tell you before you pay, because the payment link shows the confirmed amount. The listed fees are the standard ones. Corporations authorizing more than 990 shares, amendments adding shares, and requests for expedited processing all carry higher state fees, so we confirm the exact figure during review.

Do you need my Social Security number to order an EIN?

Not on the order form; we collect the responsible party's SSN or ITIN securely after we reply to your order. The IRS application needs that number, or confirmation there is none, and it is never taken through the website form. Owners without an SSN or ITIN can still get an EIN through the paper route, which costs $200.

How long does an Ohio LLC filing take after I order?

Standard state processing typically takes several business days once we file. We file after your payment clears, and expedited state processing is available for an added state fee if you need it sooner. When the state approves the articles, the filed copy, state receipt, and next-steps checklist appear in your portal.

Can I order an Ohio filing by phone instead of online?

Yes, you can call (877) 908-6122 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, and we take the order details over the phone. The rest works the same as an online order: we review it, confirm the state fee, and email a secure card payment link before we file anything.

Where do my documents go after you file?

Filed documents go to your portal, along with the state receipt and any confirmation letter. That includes filed articles, amendments, dissolutions, trade name registrations, certificates of good standing, and IRS letters for an EIN or S-corp election. Physical items such as a corporate book, seal, or apostilled document are shipped to you.

Is shipping included when I order a corporate book, seal, or apostille?

Yes, shipping within Ohio is included for the corporate book ($60) and the corporate seal ($40). The apostille price includes tracked domestic shipping to any address you name. International express shipping for an apostille is quoted separately at carrier cost, and you see the amount before you pay.
